Diaper diaper diaper

The first night when we were in the hospital with lil' muachi, GOTH was so knackered that I got up from bed when lil' muachi started crying. Call it instinct but I knew she needed a diaper change. Feeling very motherly, I made cooing noises, lifted up her bodysuit, took off her wet one and reached for a fresh one.

It took me 30 seconds to ring for the night nurse. It took the night nurse 5 seconds to change lil' muachi's diaper. Somewhere that night, "world's worst Mom" is being lasered on a mug for me.

I am now a diaper expert of 6+ months. I mean seriously, if you've never done it, how would you know right?

LMM baby steps:
1) place the diaper as the picture
2) the flap with the latch must be placed on top
3) put the bub (facing you) on top and in the middle of the diaper.
4) fold diaper up
5) open the latch and zap it onto the front diaper

There is a lot of choices when it comes to your bub's self worn potty. You can use non disposables or disposables. There is also a hybrid of the two.

LMM Advice: lil' muachi uses Mamypoko and Huggies. I have ripped Drypers's latch out before and sometimes it leaks. Mamypoko is best. Do not overbuy as bub will experience growth spurts. Watch your bub's size and forecast for sufficient stock.
Hokkien corner: Divide the price with the number of diapers given per pack, for an idea of cost per diaper. Huggies is cheaper for bigger sizes. Mamypoko is double the price of Huggies.
Huggies has a website that gives one sample to members. Delivery is within 21 days. I requested mid April and am still waiting.

There you have it. Now that we have accepted lil' muachi's pee and poo as part of our lives. We may move on to non disposables. But that would be another story.

  1. At a friend's advice, we used Huggies for daytime and Mamipoko only for nighttime, since Mamipoko absorbs much better and lasts longer without leakage, but more expensive.
    It worked wonders.
Pampers and Drypers brand were quite disappointing, causing leakage easily or the latch would tear off easily. But surprisingly, when I was in Holland, Pampers brand was good enough for day And night use. The quality is very different from here, I don't quite understand why. We were told that Pampers is a very good quality in Europe but only believed it when we tried it. There's not many other brands too over there, only one or two, so choice is very limited.

  2. I think for Pampers in Holland, it's probably made in a different factory.
Mamipoko is definitely the best. We use it for long trips as well. Lil' muachi seems fine with Huggies for night. So that at least keeps our cost down.
There are a bit more choices now but I guess with her being our only child, we just spend a bit more with better brands as I want to avoid any possible rashes with the cheaper ones.
    Thanks for the comment..:)

  10. Howdy would you mind sharing which blog platform you're using? I'm looking to
start my own blog soon but I'm having a hard time deciding between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something completely unique.
P.S Sorry for being off-topic but I had to ask!
